When Will the Movie M5 Be on Cable Again
A fun ride
This was pretty cool. I am impressed at how each film in this series has been able to have an entirely dissimilar spin on the auto chase, considering Hollywood's been making these scenes for decades. These shorts should feel repetitive, but the films are short and each manager has a very unique style. Here, Clive Owen has a good time talking virtually how hot Madonna is (a not-too-subtle hint by director and boyfriend Guy Ritchie reminding the audience that he gets to slumber with her) just before tossing her around like a ragdoll in the backseat of a BMW M5. The chase is very cool, although it's more about looking slick and having fun than getting abroad from any pursuers. And can somebody come upwards with a new stone song to utilise in movies other than Mistiness's "Vocal two"? I'g getting tired of hearing it whenever the filmmakers desire the audience to get pumped upwards. Anyway, bank check it out.

The all-time from The Hire
For me the all-time short from The Hire-series, season one. Guy Ritchie directs his wife Madonna and it is definitely his style, seen in 'Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels' and 'Snatch'. Husband and wife should have stopped afterwards this i instead of making 'Swept Abroad'.
The story: Madonna is a very arrogant star and The Commuter has to accept her to some upshot and he has to lose some followers, like her manager.
With more funny moments then I have seen in the others, a great ending, and music very well used, this is my favorite.

The all-time BMW short moving-picture show yet!
Guy Ritchie is i helluva director, as was apparent in both "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch." He shows his directing prowess in brusque films equally well with Star, featuring the freakin Awesome actor of understatement Clive Owen and the "surprise" add-on of Madonna playing the famous personna from hell. Cool dialogue, INCREDIBLE cinematography, and of grade, crawly direction. How'd they lock the camera down to the motorcar when information technology's 30 anxiety abroad? Amazing! If BMW doesn't release these films on DVD, they're crazy. If Clive Owen isn't starring in a ton of corking films in the next few years because of these films, hollywood is crazy. If Guy Ritchie e'er makes a bad film, I'm crazy.
If yous've got the CPU ability and harddrive space, I'd totally recommend downloading BMW's propriatary movie player from their site and then you can watch the films in overnice high-resolution and director commentary, only like a DVD! Looking forward to the Making Of and Powderkeg.
BMW: Please release a DVD of these films! Please! Please! Now! Cheers.

A great little activity comedy!
Please note, at the time I'g writing this, the final BMW pic "Powder Keg" hasn't been released yet. So far, notwithstanding, this is the best short film of the series. Great action and driving along with some great laughs make for a truly enjoyable fourth dimension. The interim by both "the Commuter" and "the Star" are top notch even though information technology only lasts a couple of minutes. I hope to run into Clive Owen in a feature motion picture shortly.

Crawly!
Guy Ritchie did a fantastic job of weaving a tight story and skillful stunts into just under 7 minutes. The editing, music (particularly the utilize of Blur's Song 2 and Wagner'south Ride of the Valkyries), driving, and Clive Owen and Madonna's performances are stellar. And the very concluding scene volition take y'all laughing for several minutes. Spotter it once for content, and so plough the director's commentary on again for some other insights from Guy Ritchie.

The funniest installment in "The Hire"
Before the review, a brief plot summary: Star is a famous rock star visiting a small town who is sick of poor service and bodyguards swarming around her. In addition to this, she is spoiled and cocky. In an endeavour to loose her protectors, she jumps into The Commuter's BMW and orders him around, critizing his driving and demanding he bustle up and so that they outrun the guards. Finally, The Driver decides to listen.
As you probably know, BMW has made a serial of short films called "The Hire" virtually a mysterious driver played by Clive Owen every bit information technology'south driver and a chaueffeur for rent. Each of these films accept suprisingly big directors, like John Frankenheimer (of "Reindeer Games") and Ang Lee (of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"). They are really but commercials with an activeness-film plot. Virtually are simply fun auto chases, but this and "The Follow" are the ones with true stories. So, they are both sort of expiriments, in different means. "The Follow" directed by Kar-wai Wong (of "In The Mood for Honey") shows, every bit information technology involves drama and emotion. This movie is an expiriment with one-act.
To put it shortly, information technology works.
Guy Ritchie (of "Snatch") writes and directs this comic action short. All "The Hire" films have fairly pop actors, but this one has the biggest by far: Guy casts his wife Madonna in a role similar to that of her real life. The chemistry between her and Clive is fun, and it'southward entertaining to watch The Driver slowly respond to Star in a witty way. And then the hilarity begins, as he finally listens and "steps on it".... totally suprising her. Y'all can't help laughing as Madonna gets tossed around in the BMW, and the whole film belongs in the "memorable quotes" section (although viewers should note this has stronger language than the other films as Clive uses the word "c**t" once). It fifty-fifty has the "whoo hoo" vocal in it!
The previous films are skilful action flicks, but if you desire a bit of humour, bank check this out. The closing scene is hilarious as Star is humiliated in front end of all her fans.

Can seven minutes be more entertaining?
"STAR" is the most entertaining film of the great BMW film series. The ironic wit is keen and the race through the urban center is superbly well done - everything fits here: the cinematography, the editing, the bully music by Mistiness, the actors and of course the BMW M5 who gives the all-time functioning of them all!
Enjoy this ride - you won't be disappointed!

The automobile'southward not the only star
Guy Ritchie yet over again demonstrates his ability to tell the whole story in the minimum number of frames. All the BMW films are worth the download time, but STAR is definitely the pick of the crop. Clive Owen is a fine dramatic actor (I actually enjoyed his performance in Croupier); now he gets the chance to practise one-act - and he does it very well. Considering that he spends the unabridged film sat in a car he does a great performance with his eyes alone. The script is very funny, the editing sharp to a frame, and Madonna demonstrates that being a pop diva doesn't hateful that you can't express mirth at yourself.
Why are you reading this when you could be downloading it?

A great revenge-fantasy.
After the introspective FOLLOW, Guy Ritchie'south STAR is a complete 180-degree turn away in terms of style, mood and discipline. Fortunately, it's a roaring success.
Clive Owen showcases a previously unseen facility for comedic timing. From his mock innocence as the Star berates him to a later moment when he says with tongue firmly planted in cheek, "I've retrieve we've lost them.", Owen is a delight in this charming little revenge fantasy for those who take had to put upward with rude, insolent customers in their line of profession.
Ritchie directs the picture show pretty much equally an extension of the style he used in SNATCH and LOCK, STOCK, & 2 SMOKING BARRELS. All his trademarks are here; Freeze frames, vox overs, and gratis utilise of English language pop songs. Combined with the fact that yes, as anybody at present knows, that's his wife Madonna as the Star who gets her fateful comeuppance, and the film ends upwards existence the almost crowd-pleasing of the serial. Highly recommended.

Funny on paper just the heavy delivery actually beats the comedy out of it
What is it about the combination of Guy Ritchie and Madonna that seems to create films that fall brusque of the marker? They must be doing it deliberately – there is no style they can have this loftier hit rate past fluke. Star is the quaternary in the serial of BWM films featuring Clive Owen as The Driver and and so far it is the weakest by some considerable distance. The plot here is that a really abrasive diva of a star (played by guess who?) storms out of her own car and into that of the nearby driver. She demands he lose her bodyguards in the car behind and berates him for his tiresome driving – well, or at least she does until the Driver gets the green-light from her manager, who has fix it all upwards to have some quiet revenge at her expense.
The arroyo here is comedy and in a way information technology is pretty amusing. On the face of it the idea of Madonna beingness thrown around in the dorsum of a car and having all of the "diva" shaken out of her is really quite funny, but somehow it doesn't manage to fill a film that is only six minutes long (a big chunk of which is the set up-up to said gag). The picture opens with the fashion that nosotros await from Richie – freeze-frame in support of the narration etc and information technology is non too bad at this stage. The thought isn't too bad either but sadly what spoils it is the sheer overegging of the comedic cake that is washed past everyone. The warning signs are right hither in the choice of Song #2 by Blur – great track but really obvious in regards its choice and its awarding. It continues thus with overdone physical comedy that mainly features Madonna's double falling round in the back seat but draws in the car (OTT movements) and fifty-fifty Clive Owen (OTT facial expressions) earlier it is over. Even the ending spoils its funny simplicity by adding a "upward to 11" bit that seems unnecessary.
It isn't awful by whatsoever means, it is just so very broad and obvious that one wonders why they bothered going to the expense of the director. Information technology has its moments but more often than not the one-act is dilapidated to death by Richie's very heavy touch combined with Madonna's inability to even exist convincing when playing a role that one would have thought to take been second nature for her. Surprisingly far beneath the standard set up by the previous 3 films in The Hire serial.

Broke the mold of the previous three BMWfilms.
Of the BMWfilms this is probably the funniest and most enjoyable. Seeing Madonna thrown effectually the inside of a 3 series is pretty funny. The previous three films were all pretty serious. In this i Guy Ritchie has Clive Owens interim unpredictibly, calculation to the humor. The pacing was really good, longer cuts early on, to fast cuts during the car stunts. Compared to the previous three this one had a bit more than realism in the car action. It too broke significantly from, what had go in the other 3, a formula for car chasing. The only down side was the very ending, non sure I really liked the coffee spill so much. Guy spent a fleck too long building that moment.

Woohoo!
Guy Ritchie is surely one of the most visually and aurally artistic directors. Even "Snatch" solitary makes a strong point for this case, and "Star" adds fifty-fifty more to it. With merely a BMW and a classic song (likewise as an extract from another smashing slice), Ritchie makes ane heck of a funny ride that's well worth taking for its entire 6 minutes. So, when its over, yous'll want to accept it once more.
However, it is not just the frenetic car chase, every bit with his previous films the plot hither (yeah, plot, in a music video/advertisement) is besides agreeable with that Ritchie affect of unexpected cahoots and twists. This is hands the funnest (and funniest) of all the BMW short films. --- 10/10

On of the best in the serial.
The Plot: Clive Owen ( before he was in "The Bourne Identity," "King Arthur," "Elisabeth: The Golden Age," and "Sin CIty" ) plays a "hire" who drives people places they desperately demand to become.
Often times, they are working for something "pinnacle secret" and can only give our protagonist express information.
Also, this is meant to evidence off the BMW automobile and is executive-produced past Tony Scott, Ridley Scott and David Fincher ( Panic Room, Alien 3 ).
In this tale directed past Guy Ritchie ( of "Snatch" fame and Madonna's current husband ), our hero must send a mean celebrity ( Madonna in an uncredited role ) to her destination.
Incredibly funny and some addicting songs that go a lot of radio play are featured every bit well!

I dearest these shorts. Make certain you lot watch the subfilms. I think BMW has a novel idea. Has everyone wondered if Clive Owen would make a skilful James Bond? Anyway, in "Star" Madonna plays the quintisential prima donna (a stretch, I know). I don't want to give as well much away every bit the pic is merely 6 minutes long.

Expert fun, but not equally exciting every bit Deadfall
The only problem I have with this commercial, the just thing in it that makes me similar Ambush better is that information technology'south based most entirely on the humor... and unlike action, humor is not a good plenty base for a car commercial... at least not for me. Ambush was primarily based on activeness, but also had some humor. This is almost all humour, and not great sense of humor at that(non in my opinion, anyway). Guy Ritchie is a talented manager, and his stylish direction really helps hither... in fact, had it not been his style of fast-paced editing and overdone sound furnishings besides chop-chop changing camera angles, I probably wouldn't accept cared likewise much for this commercial. The humor just was too lame for my tastes... OK, we have this big star who's convinced that she's better than anyone else and constantly gets what she wants. How old is that? Madonna does this part well, but the jokes are just too old. Clive Owen stills does cracking work as The Driver, only his character was a piffling too... childish, I remember, in this one. The catastrophe was good, with the stuck-upwardly star getting what she deserves, merely it'due south still just a tad slow. The auto-hunt stuff was cool, though, and Ritchie's stylish direction brand this worth watching. I recommend this to fans of Guy Ritchie and the The Rent commercials. 8/10

I bought the Dvd after seeing 2 of the second flavor films online. This is by far my favorite 1 of the eight. Guy Ritchie is probly i of my favorite directors and he proves his talent with this curt. The humor is witty and the camera movements/angles are superb. Definately a must see... Watch it here =>

Great filming, acting, and storyline!
Oh my, this is past far the about exhilarating of the BMW films... Clive Owen's antics are just amazing, especially since he's always behind the wheel... One thing I've noticed, that a lot of people have missed out, is that Glen, the spineless director, apparently hired the Driver to do all these stunts... just listen carefully to their phone chat... breakfast, lunch and dinner... Even though Song ii is a bit old and overused, it's just so appropriate for this video... the way information technology comes back on the chorus just as the car lands is only perfect :)
Anyway... Gotta dearest BMW'south M5, truly a rather frightening car, which yet looks so unassuming.. :p I suggest you lot look up the british TV show Meridian Gear's review of it... Gotta showtime saving up for ane ;)
Every bit for the person wondering how they did some of the filming from the angle of the car with a stock-still camera at a distance, the photographic camera is fixed to the car, y'all can see that in the "making of", I guess they just cover-up the mounting hardware, most likely digitally. Anyhow it gives a seriously impressive (yet videogame-y) effect.
Anyhow I give it a hearty and well deserved 10/x, and shall now try to perfect my handbrake-turning skills :D

A great brusque film.
This is the all-time BMW film made, the photographic camera work and motorcar driving are the best. Guy has proved to me that he can direct a dandy activeness movie, and should exist given the take chances. This curt moving picture lonely is more entertaining than Gone in 60 seconds with Nick Cage.

A Star of a short film
One of the best short films I've ever seen!
This is the best, so far, of the BMW Films series 'The Rent'. Guy Ritchie does a magnificent job directing this piece, showing off the performance of BMW cars and providing a lot of laughs in the procedure. The film is, to say the least, hilarious.
Clive Owen'southward performance as the driver is fantastic, much less astringent and more light-hearted than in the other films in this series, which fits this pic perfectly. Madonna is great as well in an uncredited performance every bit the big-headed harpy of a Superstar 'travelling' equally the passenger.
This is definitely worth seeing. It'south also worth getting the high quality version through the picture show player (which you can download from the site), even though each picture show is an actress 80mb download.

So Absurd!
I loved this moving-picture show. The photographic camera work is fantastic and the story is really funny. I really liked the scene when the car began speeding upward, Blur's vocal comes out and when the car flies, classic music comes out and Blur's song comes out again when the car lands. Through the whole moving picture, I could see how clever the director is.

a short, fast-paced, thrill ride!
"Star" is a short film made for BMW by Guy Ritchie, who also directed two other reasonably good movies, "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch." Although she isn't credited as the star, Ritchie's wife Madonna plays what seems to be the lead function in this film, a stuck-upwards glory rock star. Clive Owen plays the driver who grants Madonna'due south wish to escape her bodyguards by taking her on the ride of her life. The scenes where the BMW car is speeding around town are more than exciting to watch and the soundtrack in the background, by and large "Song 2" by Mistiness is an splendid addition to the intense temper. I recommend to anyone who enjoyed Ritchie's other work or even to Madonna fans to log onto bmwfilms.com and check out this seven minute thrill ride.

What an thought for a"commercial"!
I thoroughly enjoyed this 6 minute picture! Clive Owen is a great "shady", BMW-driving agent. I would SO vote for him as the side by side James Bond. I really appreciated Madonna's sense of sense of humor in making this clip. She must be crazy about Guy to make herself the barrel of the joke hither. Much has been said well-nigh Ritchie'due south directing manner being all wink and no substance, merely I think nothing gets your attention faster than his set-upwards: the expository voice-over followed by unrelenting visual movement. I think it worked well in "Snatch" every bit well. I wonder of BMW has any plans to run these clips every bit trailers or edit them downward for commercials. They heighten the level of advertisement to... well... if not fine art, at to the lowest degree excellent entertainment.

Worst of an otherwise fine serial
This is probably the worst motion picture of the series, and a definitely let-down later seeing "The Follow". Up until this point, each film got better, but "Star" is definitely the worst. Non exactly a imaginative motion to cast his wife, Madonna, Guy Ritchie, who'southward directed 2 splendid films in "Lock, Stock and Ii Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch", comes up very short on this 1. Perhaps because a six infinitesimal picture show doesn't permit him to emulate Tarantino (his finest trait), the bulk of the picture show is a pointless chase sequence whose acrobatics fall far beneath that of "Ambush", fueled by the abrasive and way overused, "Song 2". Just the worst affair about this film may be casting Madonna as the "superstar", who delivers a completely flat functioning. Surely, as a well-trained director, Guy should take enough balls to tell the Mrs. that her acting sucks, and kick her off the cast (at least exercise a few more takes, that is, unless these WERE the best takes). Clive Owen does well with what's he's given, and the manager's office might be a clever insight on how Guy and his married woman relate. Overall, a big disappointment is an otherwise dainty series.

Is this the existent Madonna or a parody? Either manner, information technology's a must-see short picture show!
Warning: Spoilers
In 2001 and 2002, BMW sponsored a series of 8 films all with the common theme that a BMW was prominently featured in it....and, of all things, Clive Owen starred in each one. For this odd experiment, some of the top directors in the globe were somehow obtained--including John Woo, Ang Lee and fifty-fifty the bully veteran director John Frankenheimer. While I don't think you lot'd consider Guy Richie a great managing director (mostly because his track tape is still pretty brusque AND considering he made "Swept Away"), I do recollect he showed greatness with this curt film. Imagine....Richie fabricated a picture I liked more than one of my heroes, John Frankenheimer--and I really, really liked the Frankenheimer short.
This moving-picture show stars Richie'south wife at the fourth dimension, Madonna. Now I am not sure how much of this is the real Madonna and how much is just a fun parody--I certainly don't know the lady and can't comment on what she's like off phase! I hope this film is her way at poking fun of herself and celebrities! Regardless, it's a dandy film.
It begins with Madonna (who is never mentioned past proper noun, but she plays a mega-music star) getting ready to be driven to her next performance. In the process, she treats her employees like dirt and her attitude is contemptible. She truly is a horrid person in this motion picture. However, what she doesn't know is that she'south virtually to ride in a BMW M3--one of the hottest sports sedans in the world. My wife has a car with the same sports package and engine--and it is a rocket (this is NOT an ad for BMW, by the style--I like my non-German language minivan, thank yous very much!). Just it's important to the story as the driver gets to use this car to teach this spoiled brat a little bit of humility!!
Exquisitely acted, synthetic and filmed--this is one impressive short film and I guess I have to requite Richie another try--only NOT his "Sherlock Holmes" (equally I am Holmes purist).
UPDATE: Since seeing "Star", I've seen several more of Ritchie'southward films and he has shown sparks of genius in some of them. "Lock, Stock and Ii Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch" are amazing movies.

A somewhat different assignment
Warning: Spoilers
This is another curt motion-picture show starring Clive Owen every bit a mysterious driver. The whole thing runs for 9 minutes, but the terminal 2 minutes are credits. Owen was withal a very possible candidate for stepping into Pierce Brosnan's shoes as James Bail when this was fabricated almost 15 years ago, He did not get the part, but at least he could drive Madonna around in this short movie. The queen of pop music plays a more than extreme version of herself in here, a superstar with massive arrogance and graces. Obviously, this is also a sarcastic accept on what media report on Madonna in terms of her alleged narcissism. The writer and director here was Guy Ritchie, Madonna'southward newly-wed husband. The activeness is not too memorable, but it's not as well bad either. The whole thing gets rounded upwardly with a tricky tune past Blur. All in all worth a scout, fifty-fifty if the drama from the other entries to Owen's commuter serial is not really in that location this time. Probably the funniest out of these. Recommended.
